Welcome to the FacultyFocus newsletter featuring specially selected information for you as AOTrauma faculty.

One of the core elements of the AOT Basic Principles courses is currently undergoing a soft update: read about the improvements to the AO Skills Lab, which will be implemented throughout the regions starting early October 2018.

The competency-based Foot and Ankle curriculum shows first impact. Since its launch in early 2017, 11 courses have been run successfully in the new format. Chairpersons can choose from three standard Foot and Ankle course templates and a modular framework.

Our main aim as chairpersons is to help participants fill a gap in knowledge, skills, and/or attitude. This is a challenging and at times daunting task. Our 10 tips on instructional design highlight key points to help you plan educational activities based on learners’ needs.

When the members of AOTEC reviewed the changes in duration of the AOTrauma Fellowship over the past 10 years they felt that the trend towards very short AOT Fellowships did not match the value proposition for the Fellowship. Decisions have recently been taken to increase Fellowship duration.

Finding AO educational videos will be easier than ever in the newly launched video hub “AO Videos”, a centralized high-end video delivery platform. The complete collection of AO educational videos has been upscaled to the 1080p high-definition (HD) standard.

Last but not least, we would like to inform you that there is a new online registration form available for AOTrauma faculty who wish to run a Clinical Training Module (CTM) for ORP.

In closing, I would like to thank you for your dedication as AO faculty. The combined professional expertise in the AO network, the shared passion for education, and the wish to excel have provided high value to orthopedic surgeons and their patients around the world without ceasing during the past six decades.
