Management of Facial Trauma Course―New Version 2.0!
Available now to download in the AOCMF Faculty Lounge
Launched in early 2017, the Management of Facial Trauma (MFT) course has been an international success. To date, the course has been held more than 60 times across 32 countries, and over 2’000 participants have been trained.
Participant evaluation results have been outstanding. A rigorous immediate feedback process is in place to ensure course quality is maintained, including a survey completed onsite by a faculty member, which analyses all lectures, slides, and curriculum materials.
The dedication shown by AOCMF global faculty means we have been able to collect continuous feedback on the MFT curriculum content since its launch. The AOCMF Global Education Task Force (GETAF) received a tremendous response from faculty with nearly 200 recommendations being provided.
All feedback was scrutinized during a review in 2018. Comments included the need to introduce more CT scans, clinical pictures, and cases, as well as more detailed observations on diagrams, text, and in-depth commentary on content. We thank everyone involved.
What is new in Version 2.0?
A new version 2.0 was piloted in Singapore in September 2018. The considerable efforts have delivered valuable enhancements to the curriculum to improve the learning experience for MFT participants. The content quality of the course materials available to surgeons delivering the course has also improved.
Videos and practical exercises
In addition to lectures and small group case discussions, the MFT practical exercises and videos were reviewed. As a result, most MFT course videos are going to be revised in 2019.
Message from the GETAF for 2019
MFT 2.0 now offers an excellent package of lectures and cases. We hope that all faculty will enjoy using the new program in their forthcoming courses during 2019. This curriculum review is a continuous process and we encourage feedback throughout the year. We look forward to hearing from you and will share an update on the MFT video review later this year.
