AOCMF On Air: It’s a winning concept!

Have you heard? AOCMF has a new interactive webinar format that takes the popular small group discussions from our Management of Facial Trauma course concept online. This novel approach is based on a disarmingly simple concept: CMF surgeons from around the world are invited to join a livestream discussion involving the world’s leading experts in their field. Four lucky selected participants have the opportunity to participate in the engaging online discussion face-to-face, via webcam.

The concept was taken to the next level, rolled out as full-fledged television (TV) production on the theme “Condylar fractures—to treat or not to treat,” filmed in front of a live studio audience and broadcast from the heart of the AO Davos Courses 2018.

Over 100 people joined on-site, and over 200 tuned in from all over the world

AOCMF On Air faculty members Sabine Girod (US), Florian Thieringer (CH), Iain McVicar (UK) and Marcelo Figari (AR) led the one-hour interactive live discussion focused on three distinctive cases. Each case was introduced, first with X-rays or computed tomography (CT) scans, then with further detail about the patient’s age and clinical history. The audience on-site and online was asked to describe the fracture and suggest treatment options. The results of the chosen treatment were critically evaluated.

Much to the delight of AOCMF members worldwide, two more TV productions are planned for 2019, along with multiple interactive webinar sessions with a regional focus.

It is safe to say: This winning concept is here to stay.
