AO CMF case discussion group on Facebook now offers mentorship for members
Direct, online peer-to-peer mentoring is no longer only wishful thinking. Last month, the exciting new feature was launched on the AO CMF case discussion group, much to the delight of both members and faculty.
The AO CMF Community Development team asked over 100 surgeons from all over the world what they want when it comes to digital AO offerings. They all said the same thing: a case discussion forum allowing for direct interaction, peer-to-peer consultation, and mentoring.
In direct response to these needs, AO CMF in December 2018 launched a closed case discussion group on Facebook exclusively for AO CMF members. The group today has over 500 active participants and, under the moderation of AO CMF Community Development Commission regional representatives, lively discussions between surgeons are taking place at an ever-increasing pace.
Just recently, a mentoring feature was introduced on the Facebook group, making it possible for surgeons to connect with each other for private conversations around topics about which they feel passionate.
This is how the mentorship feature works
In order to leverage the full potential of this exciting new feature, AO CMF Community Development is seeking faculty members interested in joining the online mentoring program, becoming mentors, and sharing their knowledge with the next generation of surgeons. Interested faculty members should get in touch with AO CMF Community Development at membership@aocmf.org for support in getting started.
