Editorial

The FacultyFocus newsletter features specially selected information for you as AO Trauma faculty.

Read about the project that earned this yearʼs Innovation in Education award: Rodrigo Pesantez (Colombia) and Emad Saweeres (Egypt) will take home the award for their development of a hands-on case discussion on reduction techniques in the AO Trauma residents courses.

Many of you have been involved in online teaching in the past, either as webinar presenters or as moderators of online discussions or webcasts. You will no doubt benefit from this issue’s ten tips focusing on online teaching and how to maximize its impact.

Meet the two new members of the AO Trauma Education Commission (AOTEC): Saeed Al-Thani (United Arab Emirates) and Reto Babst (Switzerland). I wish them both success in their new roles and I thank their predecessors, Jonathan Monk and Mahmoud Odat, for their dedication and contributions to the AOTEC in recent years.

The AO values its history, traditions, and identity. Change and innovation have always been an integral part of all of our undertakings. The new AO brand design pays tribute to this and aims to convey the message that the AO is a dynamic, open, and innovative organization. The AOʼs core activities, its passion for excellence, and its dedication to improving patient outcomes by serving its diverse health care community, remain unchanged.

I thank all of you for your commitment to excellence in teaching, your creativity and passion as chairpersons and faculty, and for exploring new concepts in medical education.

Best wishes,

Wa’el Taha MD

Chairperson,

AO Trauma Education Commission
