Dear colleagues,

This is my first Faculty Focus newsletter as the new Chairperson of AOSpine Education Commission (AOSEC). Last month I started my term by attending the AO Foundation Leadership Education Program (LEP) in Hong Kong, then went on to London to chair my first AOSEC meeting and retreat workshop to share my goals with the rest of the team.

The LEP is a cross-divisional program for senior AO surgeons that have already been identified as educational leaders in our organization. The objectives were to develop leadership skills that will enable us to build and lead education teams and promote change in education both within and beyond the AO. I think all of us that participated felt that valuable insights into ourselves and our organization had been gained.

I hope to meet or catch up with as many of you as possible during the next three years and I look forward to making AOSpine the leading organization in spine care education, through innovative and engaging lifelong learning pathways, and with your help.

With best wishes,

Bryan Ashman
