Improving the Davos
Courses with new offerings

AOTrauma is transforming the Davos Courses to create an enhanced and comprehensive, one week teaching, learning, and social experience. As faculty members in Davos you can expect a streamlined program that is designed to strengthen your professional network and expand your surgical knowledge.

Improvements for faculty

  • Invitation for the whole week
  • More time to visit other courses, network, and enjoy Davos
  • Opportunity to participate in the AO Spirit Program

AOTrauma is preparing to host the best Davos Courses ever. By instituting several important changes that continue to advance our role as an education leader in trauma and orthopedic surgery, we hope to deliver a better teaching and learning experience to faculty and participants.

Creating a more inclusive atmosphere

The first major change to the program in Davos is that all AOTrauma courses are now together in a single week. This will allow for more interaction between the international faculties, as everyone will be there at the same time. In this week, the provision of aggregated course offerings will also create more self-directed learning choices for participants.

A new academic program

The most important change to this year's Davos Courses is the new academic program that will be rolled out. Every course will be touched by this new program, especially the Masters level courses which will follow the Current Concept Course (CCC) format. The CCC courses will be track-based and allow participants to choose from four tracks: Complications, Soft Tissue & Polytrauma, Upper Extremity, and Lower Extremity. While participants have to choose one track, they will have a free choice of topics during two self-directed learning days. Another improvement is that this year most courses in Davos will include two anatomical specimen labs.

Adding the “AO Spirit Program”

To help foster the AO family spirit, AOTrauma has created a new social program that will be offered each day from 17:00 to 19:00. The "AO Spirit Program" will consist of a range of fully compliant activities that are supportive, relaxing, and will help enhance the AOTrauma community. All planned activities fall into one of these three categories: light sports/active, cultural/social, or academic. In order to be compliant, some of these activities will require a small fee but all of them are open to all faculty members and participants.

Lunch now included

In order to meet the request of many course participants and faculty to have lunch provided at the course venue, AOTrauma has now included a lunch menu in the course fee. Lunch for participants will be offered in the Congress Center each day from 12:00 to 14:00, while the restaurant Extrablatt will be reserved for the complimentary lunch for faculty members. For easier access, the connecting door to the Extrablatt will be opened, with just a 50 m walk from the Faculty Support Center and the Faculty Lounge.

We are excited to share more improvements as the Davos Courses get closer and look forward to seeing you in Davos!
